The Tony Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler first appeared on Broadway in 1979, according to Playbill.com. The Playbill synopsis reads, “A barber who was unjustly imprisoned for years by a corrupt judge returns to England bent on revenge—a revenge that turns indiscriminately murderous, leading his resourceful accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, to bake the victims into meat pies.”

The show features “coming of age” songs from Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals of the last two decades.
