The Malia family of West Caldwell will for the fifth year celebrate the memory of Jackson "Jack" Malia with a toy collection and visit from St. Nick.
The 5th Annual Jackson Malia Toy Drive and Breakfast With Santa will take place in West Caldwell at the West Caldwell Civic Center, 5 Fairfield Ave., on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Jack received a special gift and visit from Santa while he was hospitalized during Christmas in 2007. He passed away on Jan. 2, 2008.
The Jackson Malia Fund for Children with Special Needs was created in Jack's memory to spread joy and love to sick children and children in need during the holidays.
The community is asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy, preferably for children ages 5 to 12. Toys will be distributed to the Children's Hospital of New Jersey and St. Joseph’s Children's Hospital in Paterson, as well as other locations.
Children can have their pictures taken with Santa by Silveira’s Touch Photography. There will be a $5 charge for an instant photo; regular prints are $10; or parents can take their own pictures free of charge.
In addition, there will be activities for kids, such as face painting, balloon animals and crafts.
