What's happening in and around the Caldwells this weekend.

WHAT: Easter Egg Hunt at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church

WHEN: Saturday, 10 a.m.
WHY GO: Toddlers to Grade 3. Remember to bring your basket.

WHAT: Blessing of the Easter Food
WHEN: Saturday
WHERE:   , Caldwell, noon
                Our Lady of the Lake, Verona, 9 a.m.  
                Church of the Immaculate Conception, Montclair, 11 a.m.
WHY GO: Bring your Easter baskets to church to have them blessed on Holy Saturday. Part of the joy is in preparing the foods that will be blessed and eaten on the first meal of Easter.

WHAT:   
WHERE:  Branch Brook Park, Cherry Blossom Visitor Center
WHEN: Saturday, first race starts at 7 a.m.
WHY GO: Race through Branch Brook Park in the Cherry Blossom Challenge, a competitive New Jersey tradition, or cheer on the cyclists while enjoying a day in the fresh, spring air. The race is an official NJBA event and a 2012 Garden State Cup event. Various races occur throughout the morning.
COST:  $30 - $35, varies by race category. (free to come, park and watch)

WHEN: Friday, 1 p.m.
WHY GO: Drop in to play or to socialize at the Community Center Annex. No registration required.

 First Presbyterian Church of Verona, Fairview Ave., Verona
WHEN:  Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHY GO: All children, pre-K to 4th grade are invited for a fun time of crafts, baking, music and God Time.

WHAT:   
WHERE: Redeemer Montclair Church, 23 North Willow St., Montclair
WHEN:  Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
WHY GO:  Redeemer Montclair is inviting the public to come out and have some fun during the church's annual Easter Egg Hunt (Rain or Shine). Enjoy food, storytime, craft activities, and hunting for Easter Eggs! Ages 1-10 are welcome to hunt for eggs.

WHAT:  
WHERE: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 73 South Fullerton Ave., Montclair
WHEN: Saturday, 11 a.m.
WHY GO: The annual celebration in the assembly hall with crafts and dress up activities. The Easter Bunny will be there for songs and photos and then the great egg hunt will take place on the church lawn. Barbecue lunch will follow.  Registration is required.

WHAT:  
WHERE: 191 Glenridge Ave., Montclair
WHEN: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHY GO: Montclair Township Animal Shelter and Montclair Feed & Pet Supply are joining forces to showcase the shelter’s homeless pets to community residents through in-store adoption of various dogs & cats.

WHAT:   
WHERE: Tapastry Restaurant, Church Street, Montclair
WHEN: Saturday, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
WHY GO: Compás is playing a free concert playing some awesome Latin music from many different parts of South America.

WHAT:  
WHERE: The Café at the Montclair Public Library
WHEN: Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
WHY GO: All ages and skill levels are welcome to play chess on Saturday afternoons. This is a drop-in group, no registration is required.
