The Weekend: Verona's Got Talent

Annual Verona High School Talent Show, and other weekend fun.

Where/When: 151 Fairview Ave., Verona; Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go? Check out the talent of your neighbors, classmates and co-workers at Verona’s annual talent competition. Singing, dancing, comedy, dramatic readings, and even animal acts will be performed by people living, studying, or working in Verona.

Pricing: $5 for students, $10 for adults and $30 for families.

Where/When: , 1 Provost Square, Caldwell; Saturday, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Why Go? Enjoy a swim, shoot hoops, have pizza and spend time with friends!  While you must be between 11 and 15 years old, you do not need to be a member, or register, or pay anything! Supervised by the Community Center staff.

Pricing: FREE

Where/When: , 339 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove; Saturday leaving at 9 a.m., returning at 4 p.m.

Why Go? Tour by bus three churches in northern New Jersey that illustrate the history of the growth of Catholicism in our area from the 18th century to today. Msgr. Raymond Kupke, pastor and professor of Church History at Immaculate Conception Seminary, will guide the tour and bring rich history to life. Lunch (not included in the ticket price) will be at a local restaurant.

Where/When: , 20 Academy Road, Caldwell; Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go? Simply put, blood donations save lives. If you are able to donate, please do. You never know whose life you may save. Please eat before donating and bring ID.

Where/When: , 760 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove; Sunday at 5 p.m.

Why Go? The award-winning documentary, SOFERET: A Special Scribe, tells the story of a Canadian orthodox woman, perhaps the first female ritual scribe. Her quest is highly controversial and the film thought provoking. Join Rabbi Groffman for a discussion following the film. Bring a sandwich—soup and dessert will be provided.

Pricing: Free for TSWE members, $5 for non-members

Where/When: Livingston High School, 30 Robert H. Harp Dr., Livingston; Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Why Go? "Strummin' for a Cure" is a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Enjoy music from the best of Northern New Jersey’s up-and-coming bands and performers, including Castles, Chromatic Funk, Nardo, Conrad, Wolfman & the Pack, That's Rugby and Whale Hospital.

Pricing: $5, although larger donations are encouraged

Where/When: , 12 Church St., Montclair; Saturday, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Why Go? Compás will perform live Latin music at , and dancing is encouraged! Enjoy a delicious Spanish dinner and some sangria, and dance the night away.

Pricing: Admission and music is free, food at menu prices.
