The Grover Cleveland Park pond is open Thursday for ice skating until 9 p.m. There is no cost to use the ice, but skates are not available to rent.
The Essex County pond house will also be open until 9 p.m., where there is a roaring fire and bathrooms.
Signs posted by the pond notify skaters of the ice conditions and whether it is safe to skate or not.
Staff from the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs are present during these hours to monitor skaters. Ice skating is not allowed when staff is not present.
A notice will be issued tomorrow on the county's voicemail system whether ice skating is open on Friday. For more information, call (973) 268-3500, ext 4.
Send your ice skating photos to The Caldwells Patch and they will appear here! Send them to the editor at email@example.com.
