The Weekend: Holiday Magic, Music and More

Christmas concerts, Reindeer Run, comedy and magic brighten the calendar.

Local houses of worship are delivering entertainment this weekend, including a concert and magic show at , comedians at , a Christmas Cantata at , and a cookie walk and concert at . is hosting a Reindeer Run, and will show off their Children’s Choir.  The Roseland Library is presenting tenor Salvatore Chiarelli and soprano Elga Johannes, while hosts a Miniature Snowman Contest. Why Go? The Reindeer Run is more than just a 5K race—it is a day of fun for the entire family! The Trinity Academy HSA is sponsoring the 5K run, Santa Sprints, rides on the holiday train, pictures with Santa, crafts and shopping, and much more.

Pricing: $25 to run the 5K, $20 for those 14 and under

Where/When: Roseland Public Library, 20 Roseland Ave., Roseland; Friday at 7 p.m.

Why Go? A special holiday concert performance will feature tenor Salvatore Chiarelli and soprano Elga Johannes. Classical, traditional and contemporary songs and carols will be sung in English, Italian and Latin, including a sing-along to Let There Be Peace on Earth.

Why Go? This annual cookie walk offers yummy baked goods by the pound, so stroll the aisles and box up your favorites! Save yourself hours of holiday baking, and wind up with a delicious variety to enjoy all season.

Pricing: Cookies sold by the pound.

Where/When: , 30 Clinton Road, West Caldwell; Saturday at 1 p.m.

Why Go? Entries in the library’s Miniature Snowman Contest will be on display at noon for public viewing, with judging at 1 p.m. Come check out the creative snow people created by various age groups using diverse materials, such as papier mache, ceramic, or wire.

Where/When: , 120 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell; Saturday at 4 p.m.

Why Go? The Children’s Choir of Caldwell College has worked especially hard all season to present a holiday concert to take place in the Alumni Theatre. Come and enjoy child-generated music magic.

Pricing: $10 at the door

Where/When: 450 Fells Road, Essex Fells; Saturday at 7 p.m.

Why Go? A Christmas concert and magic show rolled into one entertaining evening! Contemporary Christian duo 33Miles and Master Illusionist Harris III will bring the magic of Christmas to all ages. Meet and greet the artists at 5:45 p.m.

Pricing: $15

Where/When: 20 Academy Road, Caldwell; Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go? Laugh the night away when hosts two young comedians, Rachel Feinstein, a finalist on Last Comic Standing, and Ari Teman, an award-winning comedian, headliner and regular at A-List clubs in New York City and around the country.

Where/When: , 8 Academy Road, Caldwell; Sunday at 10 a.m.

Why Go? The choir of Caldwell United Methodist Church will sing a beautiful tribute to the Advent season and the expectation of the Christ child during worship this Sunday. This annual musical treat is not to be missed.
