Caldwell Community Center Reopens After Renovations

The Caldwell Community Center is ready for its close-up. 

The fitness center owned and operated by the borough of Caldwell has re-opened after closing earlier this month for a whirlwind two weeks of renovations.

Improvements were made to every corner of the facility located on Provost Square, according to director Rob Paterson.

The men's and women's locker rooms were renovated with new tile floors and walls, lockers and benches, the pool was emptied and repaired, and the gym floor was sanded and refinished. The fitness center was also expanded and includes a new free weight room and more space in the cycling room. Plus, $40,000 in new workout equipment is on order.

"Now it looks like a real facility," said Paterson, who took over as director three years ago.

Paterson said he believes the Caldwell Community Center is a great value. An annual family membership is $600 for Caldwell residents, $750 for out-of-town residents. Individual memberships are $380 for town residents and $475 for out-of-towners. Teenagers ages 13-17 can also join for a fee of $180 for Caldwell residents, $225 for non-residents.

More than 45 classes are offered at no additional cost in the newly added fitness studio, Paterson said. 

The center now accepts credit cards and membership fees can be paid on a monthly basis.

A two-week free trial is being offered to potential new members, Paterson said. The offer must be redeemed by the end of September.
