Caldwell Boy Designs 'Help CF Fly Away' T-Shirt

An 8-year-old with Cystic Fibrosis creates t-shirt design to raise money for foundation.

A blue t-shirt with a drawing of an owl in flight reads, “Help CF Fly Away.”

This simple, yet powerful, design was created by Matthew Courtright, an 8-year-old Caldwell boy living with cystic fibrosis, a chronic lung disease.

Matthew and his little brother Mitchell were both diagnosed with CF in 2010. Since their diagnosis, the boys and their family have become actively involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, raising more than $15,000 through The Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis and other events.

For this year’s Great Strides Walk, Matthew asked his parents if he could design the team t-shirt. His wish was made possible with the help of MJG Promotions in Fairfield.

The owl on the front of the shirt is carrying two roses, a reference to the disease which is sometimes called 65 roses.

The back of the shirt has the image of two roses and says, “Matthew and Mitchell's Crew—Raising Money and Hope for Cystic Fibrosis.”

T-shirts are now available for sale in children and adult sizes. Proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. (Download PDF order form.) The deadline to order is March 8.

Save the date! This April 6, from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m., Team Courtright will hold the second annual Skate4CF at Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair.
