West Essex Seniors Sign to Play at Colleges

West Essex had a snow day on Signing Day, but celebrated Signing Day on several days with special student athlete signings in the High School Library.
West Essex Athletic Director Damion Macioci congratulated all of the athletes for continuing to play their sport in college. "Congratulations to all of you on a great high school career," Mr. Macioci told the student athletes and their families and coaches at several signing ceremonies. Mr. Macioci also told the students that he was "excited" that many of them would be continuing their athletic careers in their respective sports in college and wished them all successful futures.
"When we saw these girls play in the seventh grade, we knew that we had a very special group of young women," Coach Cosse said. "Each and every one of them has made an impact on the whole program in their own way."
Coach Cosse said she is excited for all of her players, but will miss them and their families next year. She had more players recruited this year to play in college than ever before.
 Marissa Cafone of Fairfield will attend Westchester University in Pennsylvania; Kaitlyn Struss of Fairfield with attend Montclair State University, Stephanie Pezzuti of Fairfield will attend Duke University; Jacquelin Renda of Roseland will attend Lehigh University, Sofia Haramis of Roseland will attend Ohio State University; Caroline Fiore of Essex Fells with attend Amherst College; Kelly Cousoulis of Fairfield will attend Catholic University in Washington DC. Also pictured on the right is Gianna Mouskourie who will play field hockey at a New Jersey college.

 On Tuesday, February 4, six West Essex High School lacrosse players signed their letters of intent to play with colleges in the northeast. Head Girls' Lacrosse Coach Jill Cosse congratulated her players. "They are a very gifted senior class with as much passion off the field as on the field," she said. "They will be difficult to replace. I feel lucky to have had the students and their families as part of the program for the past four years."
Girls' Lacrosse:
Colleen Manley of Roseland will play for Ramapo; Erica Perrotta of Roseland will attend High Point University in North Carolina; Lexi Perez of Roseland will take the field at American University; Amanda Uliano of North Caldwell will play for Virginia Tech and Christine Laible of Roseland will play for Boston University.
Boys' Lacrosse:
Julian Lorenzen of Roseland will play for Lafeyette College.
On Wednesday, February 5, two West Essex High School baseball players, three football players a soccer player and a track and field pole vaulter signed with colleges and universities in the northeast at a ceremony in the High School Library.
Baseball:
James Panzarino of Fairfield will take the field for Susquehanna University while
Anthony Tornatore of Fairfield will pitch for the team at Kean University.
Football:
West Essex quarterback Matt Thies of North Caldwell will play for Susquehanna University while
Mark Dignazio will study business and play for Moravian College.
Alex Wojtowicz of North Caldwell will play tight end on the team at Susquehanna University.
Girls' Soccer:
Amanda Masterson of Essex Fells will play for Dickinson in the fall.
Track & Field:
Pole vaulter Dean McDonald of Fairfield, who has broken several records, will attend Monmouth University.
