West Essex Arts Supervisor Named New Middle School Principal

The West Essex Regional Board of Education has approved the appointment of Vee Popat as the New Middle School Principal.
Mr. Popat, who is the West Essex Supervisor of Fine, Performing and Practical Arts will Mr. David Montgomery, who will retire on April 30 after 13 years as principal and 27 years as s a social studies teacher at West Essex.
 Mr. Popat will continue as the arts supervisor until June 30 or until his replacement is in place.
West Essex Superintendent of Schools Barbara Longo congratulated Mr. Poppat in his new position, which will begin May 1. "We welcome Vee in his new position and I'm sure you will support him in his transition."
Mr. Popat was the Supervisor of Music, Visual and Performing Arts for Randolph Public Schools in Morris County before coming to West Essex. Mr. Popat has a bachelor's degree on music education and performance from Virginia Tech, a master's degree in jazz education from the University of Miami in Florida and a master's of science degree in educational administration from the University of Scranton. He is a 1995 graduate of Randolph High School and is married to West Essex graduate Heather Jones Poppat, a former resident of North Caldwell. He lives in Randolph.
