West Essex Middle School Students of the Month

West Essex Middle School Principal David Montgomery and West Essex Middle School Assistant Principal Lisa Tamburri have announced the four Students of the Month for December 2012.

The 7th Grade Students of the Month are:

Morgan Palumbo

Morgan is a diligent, caring and hardworking student. She is a willing participant in class discussions and is helpful and respectful to her classmates. Morgan’s attitude towards learning is positive and contagious. Morgan enjoys field hockey, dance and basketball. She lives in Roseland.

Corey Blum

Corey has a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to attain his goals. He is willing to go the extra mile to truly understand the material learned in class. He has positive and caring relationships with his classmates. His efforts are commendable. Corey plays ice hockey for West Essex and a travel team. He lives in North Caldwell.

The 8th Grade Students of the Month are:

Anthony Steets

Anthony is a very respectful and conscientious student. He works well in groups and is always willing to help his peers. Anthony, a resident of Roseland, has an amazing personality. He enjoys playing soccer.

Veronica Greczek

Veronica is a very respectful and diligent student. She has positive relationships with peers and teachers. Veronica has a wonderful personality and performs consistently at a high level. Veronica is a resident of Fairfield and enjoys playing the violin.

Every month, West Essex Middle School will select four students to be recognized and honored as the Students of the Month. Two students from each grade will be selected and the selection for each month will come from one academic team at each grade level. Cross-teamed students will not be neglected and will also be included in the selection process. 

To be selected as a Student of the Month, the middle school staff has decided to base candidates and selections on a review of the “whole” student not just the student with the best grades. Character traits such as honesty, perseverance, responsibility, integrity and leadership as well as a student’s academic qualities will be included in selecting students to be honored.

Honored students will have their pictures displayed in the middle school display case outside of the main office and on the middle school website. Honorees are also recognized during the morning announcements and receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a “Student of the Month” locker magnet and a $5.00 Student Store Gift Card.
