West Essex Middle School Announces Students of the Month

West Essex Middle School Principal David Montgomery and West Essex Middle School Assistant Principal Lisa Tamburri have announced the four Students of the Month for November, 2012.

The 7th Grade Students of the Month are:

 

 Nick Sylvestro

Nick is an organized, efficient, and self-motivated student. He is a mature and respectful student who challenges himself to do his best in school. In his spare time, Nick enjoys soccer, baseball and basketball. He lives in Fairfield. 

 

 

                     Alexandra Apito

Alexandra is an incredibly motivated student who consistenly works to achieve the highest standards in her classes. She is inquisitive, polite and a positive role model for her peers. She lives in Roseland and enjoys softball, basketball and field hockey

 

 

The 8th Grade Students of the Month are:

 

Michael Ferraris

Michael is a very hard working young man who puts forth his best effort in everything that he does. He is respectful to his teachers and his peers and is a role model for other students in his classroom. Michael is from Fairfield and enjoys basketball and baseball.

 

Sadie Lowenthal

Sadie is a pleasure to have in class and works well with others. She is a hard working student who strives to meet and exceed expectations. Sadie lives in North Caldwell and is an avid rock climber. She also enjoys softball.

 

 

Every month, West Essex Middle School will select four students to be recognized and honored as the Students of the Month. Two students from each grade will be selected and the selection for each month will come from one academic team at each grade level. Cross-teamed students will not be neglected and will also be included in the selection process. 

 

To be selected as a Student of the Month, the middle school staff has decided to base candidates and selections on a review of the “whole” student not just the student with the best grades. Character traits such as honesty, perseverance, responsibility, integrity and leadership as well as a student’s academic qualities will be included in selecting students to be honored.

 

Honored students will have their pictures displayed in the middle school display case outside of the main office and on the middle school website. Honorees are also recognized during the morning announcements and receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a “Student of the Month” locker magnet and a $5.00 Student Store Gift Card.
