West Essex High School Students Selected for North Jersey Region One Chorus!

Congratulations to Marissa London and Geena Martorana!

The two West Essex High School students have been selected to sing with the North Jersey Region 1 Women's Choir and will perform in a concert with the group Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. at Secaucus High School.

Geena, a junior from Fairfield, and Marissa, a senior from North Caldwell, auditioned for the group in January. "I am so proud of Marissa and Geena," said West Essex High School Choral Director Christa Sorrentino. "Marissa has a great tone in her voice and has come a long way. Gina is a composer and arranger, sings in the choir and plays with the orchestra and has a beautiful voice  I am very proud to have them represent West Essex."

Geena said she is very excited to have been selected for the group. "I went to the audition and did not expect anything," she said, adding she hopes to major in music in college. "I am so happy that It got a spot!"

Marissa said she was so excited to get this opportunity, especially during her senior year. "This is definitely a new chapter for me," she said, adding she enjoys rehearsing with the group "because the conductor is not just teaching us how to sing it, but how to make actual music."
