West Essex High School Holds Mock Election

West Essex High School holds mock election and the results are in.

West Essex High School students voted in a mock election for president. Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin said that "mock elections get students in the habit of voting."

"The more people are engaged, the more successful our democracy will be," Durkin said.

Many adults are intimidated by the technology used in voting and do not realize how simple it really is, he said. People need to become more comfortable with the voting process so that "they can exercise one of the greatest rights we have as American citizens."

The election results are:

Mitt Romey for President.

Bridget your comment is ignorant and insulting! Would you decide that people should only vote if they vote a "certain" way if so you are living in the wrong country and may better enjoy living in a dictatorial state in which only one view is the "correct" view! Having students learn and exercise one of their greatest rights we hold has immense civic and educational value. To exercize this right and teach the sacred value of this right, more so than who you vote for, is a value that is the core of our nation. American freedom to express our values and opinions is something we should celebrate and contine to educate students in. I "may disagree with your believe but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
