Community Update

Congratulations to Skyler Simson, the West Essex High School Varsity Tennis Team First Singles player! Skyler, a sophomore from North Caldwell, made it to the finals of the Essex County Singles Tournament. She defeated players from Montclair High School, Verona High School, James Caldwell High School, Columbia High School and Mt. Saint Dominic Academy to make it to the final game, where she lost of Champion Stephanie Schrage of Millburn High School.


"This was quite a feat," Coach Barbara Bruchac said. "I am unsure if anyone from West Essex...at least a female...has gone this far in this tournament."


Congratulations are also in order for the West Essex High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team who won the Liberty Division of the Super Essex Conference. The team defeated tennis teams from James Caldwell High School, Mt. Saint Dominic Academy, Verona High School, Montclair High School, Nutley High School and Columbia High School. The team lost to West Morris Mendham High School in the Semifinals or State Group 3 Championship.

"For a rebuilding year, we lost five of our seven starters, it was a remarkable season," Bruchac said.
