Newark Mentor Fair
The Newark Mentoring Movement, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the community through positive mentoring relationships, is holding its first Mentor Fair on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.
The Mentor Fair is being held in January for National Mentoring Month, a nationwide initiative to celebrate mentoring initiatives.
The Newark Mentoring Movement was recently established to inculcate youth mentoring into the city of Newark’s culture by making it easier and more accessible. The organization aims to recruit and place 10,000 mentors in the next five years.
Fifteen mentoring programs in Newark have signed on to hold booths at the Mentor Fair, in hopes to recruit dedicated individuals to become mentors in the local community. At the Fair, mentors will find the program that is the right fit for them, whether they are willing to donate 4 hours a month or more, would like to work with 4th graders or high school seniors, have an interest in art or literacy, or just want to come check out the many possibilities. The Newark Mentoring Movement will work to match you with a program that is a right fit for you.
There will be music, free samples from the Elbow Room, and a chance to win free Barnum and Bailey tickets!
