The West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road, will present a staged reading of the poetic narrative “In the Shadow of the Globe” by Michelle Cameron on Sunday, April 22 at 2:00 pm in the Community Room.

This powerful series of monologues focuses on the colorful and daring characters who were involved with the Globe Theatre during the life of Shakespeare including the actors, poets, stage managers, bit players, and his lovelorn ladies. Fact and fiction are intertwined in this insightful poetic narrative that vividly portrays Shakespeare, his wife (Anne Hathaway), his Dark Lady, his poor dead son (Hamnet) and events that occurred during the Elizabethan era.

The staged reading will be directed by Broadway and TV actress Sandra McLaughlin and performed by McLaughlin, Leonie Higgins, Douglas Moore and Nick Foster who will portray a variety of characters.

This performance, which is generously supported by the Robert Hilton Memorial Fund, is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. For more information or to sign-up, call the Library at (973) 226-5441.
