Breaking: Caldwell Farmers Market Canceled This Summer »
Welcome back, Patch Blogger!
Caldwell-West Caldwell students will head back to school on what is predicted to be a rainy Wednesday morning. But the weather should not put a damper on the spirits of students as they reunite with old friends and settle into new classrooms.  New kitchens at both Grover Cleveland Middle School and James Caldwell High School are nearly completed. Temporary kitchens have been set up at both schools, where students will have a limited menu with mostly cold selections to choose from until the work is finished. Menus for all schools are posted on the district’s website. According to the district…
Caldwells Patch staff will be collecting school supplies for local children at the Caldwell Farmers Market on Friday, Sept. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. Items will be donated to the Caldwell Food Pantry, which is currently serving nearly 50 families and is in critical need of food donations. Patch hopes to ease the burden on these families even further by helping to stuff their children's backpacks with new notebooks, erasers, pencils, etc. These children are from Caldwell and West Caldwell so anything that is on your child's supply list is on theirs. The market takes place in the parking lot behind …

Besides, we want to stay connected to some of our…
Every school year brings changes and challenges, but few are as formidable as the one now facing administrators: implementing the state's new anti-bullying law. The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights requires districts to have a host of new procedures and protocols in place when schools open their doors, strengthening the rules put in place in 2002 and 2007. These include requirements that spell out the specific number of days allowed for a case to be reported, investigated and resolved. The law also expands the definitions of bullying, including the tricky issue of online or electronic harassment …
The other day, I read on Facebook that one of my friends just completed her main preparation for the onset of school. She described her “annual pre-school purging of widowed plastic lids and bottoms, missing cup tops and lonely snack sets.” Basically, she takes a big trash bag and tosses any plastic ware that isn’t in tip-top shape and ready to perform its duties.  I was inspired by her zeal and even though I’ve just recently gotten around to emptying the backpacks from June, I decided to ask around and see what other preparatory rituals people take part in.  Although each mom seems to have …
