Worker Falls 45 Feet at North Caldwell Construction Site

Hillside man was working on siding at Four Seasons when he fell off 40-foot ladder.

A worker who fell 45 feet at a construction site in North Caldwell Tuesday was transported to the hospital by helicopter for treatment of various injuries.

Batista Anderson, 26, of Hillside, was working on siding at the K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons development in North Caldwell off White Rock Road and Bloomfield Avenue when he fell from a 40-foot ladder, according to North Caldwell Police Chief Mark Deuer. 

Deuer said Anderson suffered injuries to his left leg and right arm, as well as internal injuries. He was conscious “for the most part,” Deuer said.

Anderson was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the NorthSTAR Medevac. The West Essex First Aid Squad transported him to a field off of Linn Drive in Verona, close to the construction site, where he was transferred into the helicopter.

The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday. The construction is at the site of a former county jail which was recently demolished and is being developed into adult assisted living housing by K. Hovnanian.
