A resident of Orton Road notified West Caldwell Police Sunday morning that the Wilson School sign was missing.
The sign at the entrance of the school was knocked over and removed, according to West Caldwell Police Chief Michael Bramhall.
Bramhall said the ground was wet which could have made the sign easier to take. He estimated the size of the sign to be four-feet wide by six-feet tall. One of the posts was also missing.
Bramhall said the incident is being treated as a theft. Any information regarding the sign’s whereabouts should be called in to 973-226-4114. Tips could be left anonymously.
The blue Wilson School was given as a gift by a fifth grade class of the elementary school several years ago, according to area resident Michele Luciano.

Sounds like maybe a juvenile prank or dare??? Or not, but disgraceful, nonetheless.
