Who will be voted Caldwell/West Caldwell’s best male and best female dancer?
Find out on Saturday, Feb. 11, when the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation in partnership with Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Montville and sponsor Cloverleaf Tavern presents “Dancing with our Community Stars”.
In the spirit of the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars, 12 community celebrities will be paired with professional dancers of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Montville to compete before a panel of judges. Mirror ball trophies will be awarded for best male and best female dancer.
For a donation of a $1 per vote, the audience will have the privilege of selecting the people’s choice winner by voting for their favorite among the well-known local celebrities.
In addition “Dancing with our Community Stars” will feature the James Caldwell High School cast of 42nd Street performing three numbers from their upcoming production and guest performers from Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Montville and Princeton.
The Community Stars are: Washington Elementary School principal Barbara Adams, Caldwells Patch editor Teresa Akersten, JCHS Principal Kevin Barnes, West Caldwell Councilman Joe Cecere, West Caldwell resident Nick Cofone, Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education Member Mary Davidson, Superintendent of Schools Daniel A. Gerardi, Grover Cleveland Middle School (GCMS) and JCHS teacher Lisa Manfre, North Essex Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Member Pat Nocito, GCMS and JCHS teacher Diana Reyes, Guerrerro-Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu MMA Instructor Sempai Fabian Rosario, and Rose Mediterranean Restaurant Manager Rebecca Thornton.
Professional Dancers are: Belle Padilla, Dana Billups, Alex Milov and Ty Gibson from Fred Astaire of Montville.
Judges are: West Caldwell Mayor Joseph Tempesta, and Ilya Ifraimov and Nadia Goulina, the owners of Montville and Princeton Fred Astaire Dance Studios and World Masters Professional Latin Champions, North American Professional Champions, World Cup Professional Champions, and six-time Fred Astaire National Champions.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens (65+). Reserved seats are available at www.Showtix4u.com. General admission tickets can be purchased from any of the dancers or by mailing a check to CWCEF, P.O. Box 96, Caldwell, NJ 07006 and at the door on the night of the event.
