What to do With an Empty Forum

What should move in after North Caldwell haberdashery moved out?

Previously in Visions for Vacancies, we highlighted the empty 17,000-square-foot former home of ACE Hardware in Caldwell and a considerably smaller 800-square-foot storefront in West Caldwell.

This time, we are taking a look further east to 11 Bloomfield Ave., in North Caldwell, where 3,600-square-feet of retail space has been vacant for some time now. Located within a small strip mall with Salon Mosaic and a dry cleaner, the location has a considerable amount of parking and access from both Bloomfield Avenue and Elm Road.

The former longtime home of Forum, a men's clothing retailer, is for lease by The Heller Group. Last year, the borough council of North Caldwell created a new liquor license for the town, which is why the sign in the window claims "possible liquor store."

But perhaps you have a different vision for this vacancy. Tell us what you would like to see go here in the Comments.

A small craft/fabric store would be great!

I like North Caldwell's plan of trying to get a establishment that will purchase a liquor license to move into that spot. Anything that will bring some extra money to the town.

Any interest for a Crossfit gym. The gym would have specific classes designed for people of different age groups. Teen classes, over 50 classes, adult classes, then also offer possible classes in self-defense, parkour. Crossfit is the only way to train. Complete body work-outs. No more wondering what to do at a gym. Strength, aerobic, anaerobic combined in blazing sessions. Nearest places are still 2-3 towns away and expensive.

How many liquor stores do we need in the Caldwells? You have the large ShopRite liquors less than a mile away, another in Caldwell center a half a mile away, one in Foodtown. We need a 4th in less than 2 miles like we need another nail or pizza shop. There has to be another choice. Why so North Caldwell can get the $$$ for the license ? Crazy!

Affinage II and Spirits! A great cheese and wine store and cafe! Bistro seating! That would rock that space!
