Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

What is the Name of Your Favorite Preschool?

Share with us what makes your preschool special in this week's Reader's Choice poll.

It may be the loving teachers, colorful art supplies or the engaging picture books.

But there is something about a beloved preschool that stays with us. The sweet children's art made around their handprints, the puppets and stuffed animals, the miniature kitchen set where kids "practice" cooking.

After our children graduate from preschool and enter the world of elementary school, we remember fondly the adorable skits, Halloween parades, pajama days and keepsake art projects.

Surely there is a preschool in your town that represents the wonderful experience of early childhood education.

Share it with Patch during this week's "Reader's Choice" poll. If we've forgotten to list it, enter it in the "other" category. And be sure and comment and tell us why that school provides a wonderful experience for children. We will share the results with you on Friday, after the voting stops at 9 a.m.

Stay tuned and encourage your friends, neighbors, teachers and fellow parents to vote.

St. Peter's Nursery School, while in Essex Fells, is where my West Caldwell children go. It definately has our vote for the best. The amazing, knowledgable, kid-centered teachers, learn through play curriculum and awesome playground make this preschool stand out for us!

Just voted in the "Other" category because St. Peter's isn't listed here. Great reputation. Most of our neighborhood kids went there for pre-school and so do mine now. Everything we were looking for in a school and more. We checked out the Montessori schools, etc. but this is the best. http://stpetersnurseryschool.com/

I voted "other" as well. St. Peter's Nursery School is a wonderful school that provided my children with the foundation they needed before entering the Caldwell school district.

Have received a number of requests to add St. Peter's Nursery School in Essex Fells since many residents of the Caldwells send their children there. If you voted "other" for St. Peters and didn't leave a comment email caldwells@patch.com and I'll be sure your vote gets added to the St. Peter's tally if the voting is close.

The Children's House, in Verona, has provided both of my kids with a loving place to learn. I feel it has really prepared them for public school and has also given them such a love for school and learning.

My daughter absolutely loved Bright Start. The staff are so incredibly friendly and loving to the children. I have recommended the school to many families.
The 2 years old class is well organized play and socialization, the 3's get a great background in their letters and numbers and by the time they are done with the school, the 4's are very well prepared for kindergarten with beginning reading, math, science and still lots of fun and play. It was a wonderful experience that I happily recommend.

Erica L. - St. Peter's Nursery School is wonderful! The teachers are extremely experienced, professional and nurturing. My son left St. Peters completely prepared for kindergarten both socially and academically. It is amazing how they can teach fundamental skills and readiness through play. The school has also been expanding and changing the classes they offer to meet the needs of the students and parents. My children and I have made life-long friends by being a part of the St. Peter's community.

The teachers are experienced, nurturing and wonderful role models, the curriculum prepares the children for kindergarten and most importantly the children love it there! I have tried a number of nursery schools in the area and St. Peters is hands down the best!

Agudath Israel has had the best reputation for many years. The children are well prepared to enter public school and the parents feel confident of that. The longevity of some of the staff members is close to thirty years!

We can not say enough great things about St. Peter's Nursery School. The school provides a safe, fun and loving environment where my three oldest boys have been able to learn and grow stress free. Each teacher is more kind and patient than the next. I could not be happier with St. Peter's approach to learning and how my children have responded. I am looking forward sending my youngest when it is his time.

Our second child is attending St. Peter's Nursery School and we love it more and more every year! As a former educator I can't say enough about the warm and nurturing atmosphere that St. Peter's well trained staff provides for both the students and parents! Its become our home away from home!! Only wish I found it for my oldest child, who attended another preschool years ago.

We cannot say enough great things about St peters!! From the minute you walk through the gate there is a warm and nurturing feeling. The WONDERFUL teachers at St Peters encourage the children to learn through play and they leave the school 100% prepared for Kindergarten. We have been at St peters for 5 years and look forward to another 3 years with our youngest daughter.

St. Peter's Nursery School in Essex Fells is a top notch nursery school where the children learn through play with the guidance of an outstanding group of teachers who are all certified teachers. Class sizes are kept small which gives the teachers the ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each individual child. St. Peter's Nursery School is a magical place and I couldn't imagine my children going anywhere else!

Does that make the votes and comments any less valid? Obviously people wouldn't take the time to vote and post if they didn't believe in it. Not sure what the point is.

There are two teachers in every classroom. The teachers are kind, experienced and patient. St. Peter's is a wonderful introduction to school!

My daughter cannot wait to get there in the morning and looks forward to Monday mornings! She is well prepared for kindergarten next year with a wonderful vocabulary, great writing and drawing skills and excellent social skills!

I love First Pres Nur School. They have a great staff and my daughter loves to go to school. She is well prepared for kindergarten and Mrs Rogers has given her all the tools she needs while having a great time. Each grade has their own neat organized classroom. For kids I think seeing organized classrooms is important. Love this school!

Tried several of them and stayed with Kiddie Kampus. Kids are not only having fun (like in some of the others (playing outside for 2 hours out of a 3 hours program ?!?) but actualy learning something. Actualy let me correct myself. They are learning a lot! As well as this school doesn't take off on any occasion (official holidays only, not like some others for teachers conference, teachers training, etc.). Staff is simply great and has all necessary experience and education to work with kids and more than that they love to work with kids...

The Children's House, in Verona. The excellent teachers and teaching style made my son love to learn, and consequently came out "overly prepared" for kindergarten (if there is such a thing). He had a blast and we all made great friends.

First Presbyterian in Caldwell !! Class curriculum is literary-based and designed to address early childhood development. Pro-social skills and emotional development are woven in a supportive yet accountable manner. The "feel" of the school is one of respect, kindness and joy. When teachers love their job, it shows on the students' faces....our child is smiling.

My daughter is at A Pleasant Day in Caldwell. We love it. She loves her teachers and her friends. As much as she is happy to see me at the end of the day, she hates to leave because she loves it there. Its so nice when I pick her up to see how happy all of the kids are. It truly is "A Pleasant Day"!

First Pres was fantastic for our kids. Lots of parental involvement encouraged, and very positive parent-teacher meetings. Mary Beth wasn't the head of it when our kids went there, but we've known her and her family for many years, and she's been a real asset not only for the preschool, but for the church as well. Both of our kids made friendships there that continue to this day.

First Presbyterian church nursery school has exceeded our expectations. Our daughter was a student there for 3 years and is now enrolled in the AMAZING kindergarten enrichment program. My son is now in the 3 year old class. I love how Marybeth and her staff celebrate the uniqueness of each child and meet them all at their own developmental level. The staff is so loving and accepting of all the students while also providing them with the routines and limits they need. I can't imagine a more perfect place for my precious little ones to begin their educational journey. My children have truly developed a love of learning through the warm and nurturing environment provided at First Pres.

It's not a surprise that First Presbyterian Nursery school gets such wonderful 'press'--their Director, Marybeth Intili, sets the right balance for the staff and the children benefit greatly from their wonderful mix of educational and social learning, all within a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. Parents truly have allies in fostering the growth of their little ones at First Pres and so they get my enthusiastic vote too.

My son attends A PLEASANT DAY preschool and we could not be happier!! The staff are friendly and attentive and the classes are small, so the children benefit greatly from the low ratio of teachers to children. My son even asks to go to school on the days he does not attend because he loves it so much!! He is learning a tremendous amount in the pre-k program and will be more than ready for kindergarten this September! If you are looking for a preschool that will nurture and encourage your child, in addition to providing a wonderful, well rounded education, then A PLEASANT DAY is the perfect place for your family!

My children went to A Pleasant Day Nursery School (years ago) and loved it! (Since then the ownership has changed). The teachers that made the most impact on my children there opened up A Bright Start in West Caldwell. If I still had kids that age, I would be sending them to Bright Start. What a wonderful group of people who truly care about our children!

Love Love Love.... A Pleasant Day. There bright loving staff makes the difference in this school. My 2 year old son has been attending for 6 months and i can't express how much he's has grown intellectually, socially and even his manners are amazing. I know its because of the love and patience he gets from his great teaches is why he is so pleasant and doesn't miss a sneeze with a bless you. When he started he didn't talk at all. He is in Early intervention and they accredit his rapid speech improvement for his school. Such a short period of time he can't stop talking. He loves it there so much that when it's time to leave he doesn't want to go.
