West Essex Masquers Present 'Sweeney Todd'
Spring musical performances are March 21-23 at high school in North Caldwell.
The West Essex Masquers will present their spring musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, on March 21, 22 and 23.
The Tony Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler first appeared on Broadway in 1979, according to Playbill.com.
The Playbill synopsis reads, “A barber who was unjustly imprisoned for years by a corrupt judge returns to England bent on revenge—a revenge that turns indiscriminately murderous, leading his resourceful accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, to bake the victims into meat pies.”
Performances are at 7 p.m. in the West Essex Regional High School auditorium, 65 West Greenbrook Road in North Caldwell.
Advance tickets for the musical are currently on sale for $15, $12 for students at www.westex.org/masquers or by calling 973-228-1200, ext. 245. Tickets will be $18, $15 for students at the door.
