A West Caldwell teen is one of three area residents charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated, according to police officials.
Harshal Patel, 19, of West Caldwell, was pulled over on Passaic Avenue near Beverly Road just after midnight on Feb. 17, when Fairfield Police Officer R.J. Casendino said he saw Patel driving carelessly.
Patel, who was driving a 2010 Honda Civic, underwent sobriety tests but refused to submit to a breathalyzer, police said. He was charged with a DWI, as well as underage consumption of alcohol.
Mary McAloon, 45, of Wayne, was also charged with a DWI Sunday at about 2:15 a.m. Police say McAloon drove a 2006 Ford up a curb, striking a guard rail and metal sign in the southbound lane of Passaic Avenue near Two Bridges Road.
Scott O’Connell, 47, of Montclair, was charged with a DWI and leaving the scene of an accident on Sunday at approximately 3:30 a.m. Police say O’Connell was pulled over for driving erratically on Route 46 West near Plymouth Street. The bumper of O’Connell’s Toyota Rav4 was allegedly hanging off the car.
All three drivers are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Feb. 21.
