West Caldwell Man Charged In Car Theft
Michael Capardi, 22, is the third person charged in the theft of a Volkswagen
A West Caldwell man was charged Friday with taking part in a car theft earlier in the week, police said.
Michael Capardi, 22, is the third person charged in the Tuesday morning theft of a Volkswagen Passat. Two Newark residents were taken into custody on Tuesday.
Capardi was charged with eluding police and two counts of receiving stolen property, Fairfield Police Deputy Chief Anthony Manna said in a release. Capardi is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail at the Essex County Jail.
Capardi is believed to have been one of the occupants that fled the Passat after it crashed on the front lawn of a house on Passaic Avenue.
Monique Spencer, 23, and Mustafa Berry, 26, both of Newark, were arrested nearby and each charged with two counts of receiving stolen property and eluding police.
Police are still seeking a fourth individual who may have been involved in the theft, Manna said.

This is a kid for God's sake, who will get a break at sentencing for being who he is, Caucasian. Apart from that, Life is worth more than material possessions.
