West Caldwell Approves $1.3M for Water Main Work
Awards pool concessions contract for 2013 season.
While the West Caldwell Council held off on introducing the muncipal budget until the April 2 meeting, several housekeeping ordinances and resolutions were approved Tuesday night.
The council unanimously approved $451,000 in improvements to the Kirkpatrick Lane sewer pumping station.
A bond ordinance was approved appropriating $1,348,000 for the design and replacement of water mains on St. Charles Avenue and Mt. Herman Way.
With members of Cub Scout Pack 6 in attendance, West Caldwell Mayor Joseph Tempesta explained that by pounding his gavel, the ordinances the council had just approved had now become new laws for the town.
The town also passed several resolutions regarding maintenance and improvements:
- Contracts for pool painting for the Westville and Cedar Street pools were awarded.
- Memorial Park Field contract was awarded for lighting at the ball fields.
- Councilman Stan Hladik, Recreation Committee Chairperson, reported a design for the new playground at Memorial Park will be selected in the next week, and should be installed by the beginning of May.
- Hladik also reported weather permitting, field improvements at Memorial Park will occur in late March.
In addition to these improvements, the council unanimously approved a resolution awarding the snack bar contract for both town pools to Hollywood Pizza of Fairfield. This will be the pizzeria's second year as the concessions stand operator.
