VIDEO: All-American 4th of July at Cleveland Birthplace
Fourth of July Ice Cream Social enjoyed by hundreds of Caldwell residents.
Hundreds of residents gathered on the lawn of the Grover Cleveland Birthplace Wednesday for the annual Fourth of July Ice Cream Social.
In addition to old-fashioned games like ring toss and potato-sack races, families were treated to tours of the historic house, a magician and a flea circus.
This year, the Grover Cleveland Birthplace Memorial Association held a Snickerdoodle Bake-off to find the best local recipe of a cookie believed to be a favorite of the 24th and 26th U.S. President.
Julia Shannon took first prize in the competition out of 14 entries. Natasha Lachak, 10, won second place in the bake-off. The bake-off was judged by Caldwell Mayor Ann Dassing, Grover Cleveland Birthplace Memorial Association Trustee Matt Rollins and Caldwells Patch Local Editor Teresa Akersten.
Food was provided by the Cloverleaf Tavern, and ice cream was courtesy of Gelotti, both Caldwell businesses.
