Two Arrested, as Bar Fight Continues Outside
The following arrest information was supplied by the Morristown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
While most ran from the scene when cops showed up, two guys involved in a fight in front of Sona Thirteen on Jan. 8 ended up under arrest and scheduled to appear in court, police said.
Among other charges, the two are accused of resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.
Morristown Police responded to the area shortly after 1 a.m. on report of a large fight involving about 10 men, according to an incident report filed by Officer Jesse Dickerson. After letting other officers know of the situation over radio, Dickerson went to break up the fight, which resulted in most of its participants running away, according to the report.
However, one man, Robert Dinnocenzio, 30, of Caldwell, continued to punch another in the head with his closed fist, while Dinnocenzio held the man down on the hood of a parked vehicle, according to the report.
Dickerson grabbed Dinnocenzio and tried to get him to the ground, ultimately needing assistance from another officer, according to the report.
While Dickerson tried to get Dinnocenzio's arms out from under him in order to put him in handcuffs, another man, Eric Essinger, 34, of West Caldwell, pulled Dickerson off Dinnocenzio from behind and yelled, "get off my boy," according to Dickerson's report. So Essinger, too, was placed under arrest, according to the report.
The man Dinnocenzio was hitting ran off and was not identified, according to the report.
Dinnocenzio was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Essinger was charged with assault on a police officer and obstruction.
They told police the fighting had began in Sona Thirteen and had spilled out onto the street, after the involved parties had been kicked out of the bar for fighting, according to the report. Both were processed and released pending court dates.

In becoming a popular nightlife destination, Morristown attracts many wonderful people who wish to have a safe and enjoyable evening out with friends. Unfortunately, there are always two sides of every coin. Our town's increasing popularity also has seen those people who do not seem to be able to control themselves properly and treat others with respect.
