A pedestrian was struck and a two-car crash occurred within an hour of each other at the same intersection of downtown Caldwell Wednesday.

Little is known at this time about the incidents, which are believed to be unrelated. The accidents remain under investigation by the Caldwell Police, which was not available to comment immediately.

According to Caldwell Mayor Ann Dassing, who was on the scene, a pedestrian was struck by a car while attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Gould Place. The woman was transported to the hospital complaining of hip pain, Dassing said.

It is unknown at this time who the driver was.

Shortly after the pedestrian was taken away in an ambulance, what appears to be a two-car accident occurred at the same intersection, sending a silver Hyundai up onto the southeast sidewalk. The driver of the car, a woman, was unharmed. Her car was towed away from the scene and she was offered a ride home by Caldwell Police.

The Hyundai stopped right up against David Chad Beauty Parlor, without causing major damage to the building’s façade other than cracking a wooden trim along the bottom of the window.
