Tell Us About Your Favorite Sushi Restaurant

Where do you like to get your wasabi on?

Okay, admit it, the first time you thought of eating a meal consisting of raw fish, it sounded, well, kind of unusual.

But that was before you tasted the velvety texture of fresh toro, the tangy flavor of wasbi, the crunch of salmon roe.

And then sushi took on a life of its own. There was the tender flavor of roasted eel, the light clean taste of California roll, and an endless array of specialties - including soft shell crab and sushi topped with peanut sauce.

According to a 2010 article by Food & Wine, America has become a sushi nation - with Los Angeles boasting of 276 sushi restaurants and Masa in Manhattan making 200 rolls an hour on a busy day.

But we know you don't have to go to New York City or California for a terrific sushi meal. All over Essex County are amazing restaurants showing off fish delicacies for local diners. And if sushi isn't your cup of tea - there are also plenty of Asian/Fusian restaurants providing delicious meals.

This week, Patch wants to hear where you love to get your fresh fish and why. If you don't see your favorite sushi restaurant on the poll, add it in the comments section. We'll let you know the winner on Friday. And don't forget to vote. . . .

I like Ocha very much. Friendly staff, nice sushi, bright decor.

I hope one day, all the local sushi restaurants will come up with "Grover Cleveland roll" to honor the 22nd and 24th President of the United States who was born on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell. A big fat inside out rainbow roll (represents the good deed with Hawaii) with black seaweed (represents Grover in a black overcoat). That'll be my dream come true.

Akiko, That's ingenious—whose going to take her up on this great idea?
