Take "The Christmas Walk" House Tour Sunday
Proceeds from ticket sales of self-guided tour to benefit Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex.
Get decorating ideas and enjoy beautiful homes trimmed for the holidays this Sunday, Dec. 4, by going on “The Christmas Walk.”
The self-guided seasonal house tour will take place from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday only. Tickets are $30 each and will be available at Caldwell Flowerland, 329 Bloomfield Ave., in Caldwell, on the day of the tour.
Benefiting The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex Foundation, the tour will include six area homes and three historic 19th-century homes, including the Grover Cleveland Birthplace in Caldwell, the Zenas C. Crane House in West Caldwell, and Roseland's Harrison House. Docents will be stationed at each of the homes to answer questions.
Complimentary refreshments will be available at Flowerland, as well as at all the historic sites.
One of the private homes on the tour will be 249 Runnymede Road in Essex Fells, a 1957 concept house designed by East-Orange based architect Edward T. Bowser. Current owner Frank Gerard Godlewski, a preservation architect, historian and curator, has a blog about the home.
The local Kiwanis Club chapter has served as a social and service club serving West Essex communities since 1923.
