The music ranged from ragtime to symphonies as students from the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District performed a spring concert last Thursday.

The Spring Orchestra Concert featured not just the James Caldwell High School and Grover Cleveland Middle School orchestras, but also specialty groups that included the Con Brio chamber players from the middle school and the high school String Consort.

Soloists included seniors Christopher White and Rosa Boronat from the high school, along with Michael Duca, an eighth-grade bass player from the middle school. The strings concert was held at the high school's Center for Performing Arts.

The concert was hosted by music teachers Annelie Fahlstedt, William Downey, Nate Lienhard and student teacher Molly Minichiello, from Montclair State University.

At the end of the show, both the middle schoolers and high schoolers performed together the popular Mexican folk tune, "La Bamba."

The music department is fantastic and always produces fine concerts. The students are taught well and perform with confidence.
