Stuck Between a Fitness Club and a Hard (Ware) Place
What would you like to see move into the old KB Toy Works?
It's been a while since we had an installment of "Visions for Vacancies"—the Patch column that lets you daydream about businesses you would like to see move into the Caldwells.
A longtime commercial vacancy in the Essex Mall on Bloomfield Avenue in West Caldwell is the former site of a KB Toy Works store, as evidenced by the sign that's still up. Over the last couple of falls, a Halloween costume and decoration shop has popped in and out for the season. But most of the year the large retail space between Sears Appliance and Hardware and the New York Sports Club sits empty.
And the sign, well it just teases tons of children who can't understand why it says there's a toy store when there's no toy store!
What business do you think could fill the void in this large West Caldwell strip mall? Tell us in the comments.

Trader Joe's is highly unlikely. Stop & Shop is part owner of that strip mall, and I seriously doubt they'd rent to a competitor.

A better location for TJ's would be the old Blockbuster across the street.
