After the worst of the storm, I grabbed my camera and set up a recording rig in the passenger's seat. This is what Caldwell/West Caldwell was like at 4pm Sunday. Irene was definitely more serene than most people had thought.

Businesses are planning to close, homeowners are taking precautions and more preparations were under way on Saturday morning as Hurricane Irene made its way up the Atlantic coast.

Patch will keep adding images to this gallery throughout the weekend. You can also post your hurricane pictures here.

Thanks Councilman Norton for arranging such a quick response! Thanks Graziano for offering your centrally located business to house the baskets!

Emergency vehicles are still whizzing around. . . I don't think we're out of this yet.

Just as I hit "Reply", a tree came down and hit my neighbors' house two doors down on Smull. The FD is on its way because all the wires got pulled out of the house.

Everything ok on Smull? Heard that road is blocked off and fire department is there.

It's all clear now, except that the tree is still there. Jeff, did you really take that pic? My daughter sent one to the Patch. . .

Winds at the back of the storm are whipping through the area. Best to stay home a little longer

anyone that can tell me how things are on Bloomfield Ave, Caldwell and Passaic Ave, coming from Fairfield; I live in Bloomingdale and have to get to work Mon am at 519 Bloomfield Ave. I am sure 2-Bridges Rd is closed; and Beaverbrook in Lincoln Park, Need to know about Bloomfield Ave, between Passaic Ave and Rt 46; and maybe Rt 23 and 46 in the Willowbrook area. Just trying to figure out a route. Thanks. Cheryl

You aren't getting to work tomorrow and probably not on Tuesday. Bloomfield Ave is already closed, so is Clinton, Rt 46 and Two Bridges road are scheduled to be closed. Fairfield is going to be a mess. So is Wayne. So is Lincoln Park.
