The following update is posted on the West Caldwell Township website.
The following update was posted on the West Caldwell website Thursday afternoon.
MESSAGE FROM MAYOR JOSEPH TEMPESTA
PSE&G is making some progress and brought power back to approximately 500 more residents Thursday.
As of Thursday at 3 p.m., it was estimated that approximately 60 percent of the township was without power.
More neighborhoods gained power last night. We recognize that all of our residents are not receiving this message but those of you that are receiving this message we ask if you can share this message with your neighbors.
Also please check on your neighbors, particularly senior citizens that may need extra assistance.
The West Caldwell Public Library has also re-opened on Friday for residents seeking to keep warm and recharge their cell phones and laptops.
PSE&G has activated its Twitter page to keep the public informed about our restoration progress. Sign up as a follower at http://twitter.com/psegdelivers to monitor restoration progress.

From the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Ed site:
CWC Schools are CLOSED today, FRIDAY (Nov. 2). Please note that in light of the closings and the cancellation of the Teachers' Convention in Atlantic City, the CWC School District is tentatively planning to hold school on both Thursday and Friday, November 8 and 9. The days may be early dismissal and/or full days. Definite details regarding the days and associated hours will be decided early next week. Stay safe and warm. We hope that everyone is recovering and doing well. Thank you.

I believe the governor said he wants the kids in school next Thursday and Friday now that the teachers convention was cancelled. It sounds about right to me. Why should they have off.
