The Fifth Annual Taste of the Caldwells was a night of winners—from the restaurants and caterers voted the "best" of the evening to the many students who will benefit from proceeds raised by the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation.

Nearly 300 people packed a gymnasium in the Caldwell College Student Center Sunday to sample a variety of food and drink. Attendees had the chance to vote for their favorites, selecting ShopRite Sunrise Kitchens in West Caldwell for Best Entree (Chili Shrimp with Pineapple Salsa), Caldwell Seafood in Caldwell for Best Appetizer (Crab Cakes), Edible Arrangements in Caldwell for Best Dessert (Fruit) and Margarita's in Livingston for Best Beverage (margaritas) and Best Display.

Other popular dishes were Pulled Pork Sandwiches from the Cloverleaf Tavern, Filet Mignon Meatballs from Cielo in Fairfield and Chicken Tangine from Rose Mediterranean Restaurant

The 50/50 winner was Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools Superintendent Daniel Gerardi, who donated his share of $580 back to the Foundation.

There was also a silent auction conducted by RSI, based in South Jersey, which included dozens of items like jewelry, artwork and sports memorabilia.

New this year was live entertainment by popular cover band, The Kootz, who played courtesy of Rose.

The Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization which provides alternative sources of funding to the Caldwell-West Caldwell district. For more information, visit www.cwcef.org.
