Landscapers Donate Sprinklers, Sod for Firehouse

West Caldwell residents Ed Malia and John Fierro, owners of Land Pros Landscaping, give back to community.

Land Pros Landscaping partners Ed Malia and John Fierro recently made a generous donation to the West Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department (WCVFD).

Malia and Fierro, both lifelong West Caldwell residents, installed a sprinkler system and sod free of charge at the newly renovated and expanded firehouse on Fairfield Avenue.

“We are very appreciative of the donation toward our ‘new’ firehouse and commend Land Pro’s for their generous donation,” West Caldwell Mayor Joseph Tempesta stated in a release. “I have known Ed Malia and John Fierro a long time and both are great people with great families that have lived here all of their lives.”

Tempesta added, “In the true spirit giving of back to the community, once again West Caldwell has demonstrated we are a caring community.”

Last year, Land Pros donated material and labor to landscape the front of the West Caldwell Civic Center.

The WCVFD is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012 with several events.

  • A community celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 9 p.m., at the newly renovated Firehouse.
  • Another event is planned for Sunday, Nov. 11 commemorating the formal re-dedication of the establishment of a West Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department and re-dedication of the newly renovated building and will include a short parade.
  • The final event will be the Firemen’s Testimonial Dinner to be held on Friday, Nov. 30 at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell.
