James Caldwell High School Grad Receives Community Service Award
Briana Hayden earns recognition from West Caldwell Assistance Board.
James Caldwell High School graduate Briana Hayden was presented with the West Caldwell Assistance Board's Community Service Award at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Hayden has volunteered for numerous organizations, according to Mayor Joseph Tempesta. She has worked at St. Rocco’s Shelter in Newark, participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Pittsburgh Project and volunteered her time as a cheerleading coach.
“I think you have a tremendous future,” Tempesta said.
Hayden is attending Rowan University in Glassboro.

Thank you for the beautiful story. Briana actually received this scholarship last year, when she was a senior in high school, but time contraints prevented her from meeting with the town council last year to accept the proclamation from Mayor Tempesta. Mr. Cecere knew Briana was home from Rowan for her semester break, and asked if she could attend the January meeting. She was thrilled to be asked.
