The SCOTUS lost all credibility during the 2000 election debacle. Then they did Citizens United. I don't think they can actually be "subverted" at this point.

Hi Belleville Sentinel -- I just love Bill Maher too. My favorite quote of his is: “I thought when we elected a black president, we were going to get a black president. You know, this [BP oil spill] is where I want a real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs, you know, where he lifts up his shirt so you can see the gun in his pants. That’s — (in black man voice) ‘we’ve got a motherfu**ing problem here?’ Shoot somebody in the foot."

I guess he does have a tendency to stereotype about blacks (and Tea Party members) just a bit. That's what makes him funny. Right?

For shame smearing Obama criticism as racist.

Obama's absolute lack of leadership was clearly evident during the Gulf Oil Spill disaster, and people have not forgotten. That event was a national disaster, the worst environmental disaster in US history. The tone deaf nature of Obama's behavior (numerous golf outings, lavish white house parties) and his comments (it's BP's problem, it's BP's oil spill) while millions of gallons of oil flowed into OUR gulf and onto OUR shores for weeks was truly hard to believe.

The oil spill began April 20, 2010 and Obama's first public comment on the matter was April 29th! Once that accident happened, and the oil started to flow, it became a problem for the United States, and was not a time for hiding out or finger pointing -- it was time to step up lead, and Obama could not.

Yes, the Tea Party just loves People of Color! You'll find more African-Americans and Latinos at an Osmond Family Reunion than you will at any Tea Party rally.

Reminds me of when Trump stated during his Obama Birther debacle how he was a "friend of the Blacks." As Seth Meyers pointed out during a following SNL Weekend Update, "Unless Trump knows a white family named "The Blacks", I don't think so!"

Hi little e -- These day, lots of people like Belleville Sentinel take the comments of comedians such as Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, Barak Obama, David Letterman, Nancy Pelosi, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert as political gospel. It's all part of the cult of celebrity worship that has infected our society these days. Maybe it's time to bring back Rodney Dangerfield and Abbot & Costello for some real leadership we can believe in?

Political satirists from Mark Twain to Jon Stewart have a remarkable way of cutting through all the obfuscating rhetoric and getting to the truth of every matter - something that certainly doesn't go unnoticed by those in power who regularly appear on the shows of Stewart, Colbert, Maher, and Lettermann.

Hi Belleville Sentinel -- Given that Mark Twain had noted nearly 140 years ago that "...one of the first achievements of the government was to institute a ten-thousand-dollar agricultural fair to show off forty dollars' worth of pumpkins in," Twain may have been more a seer than a humorist. He was able to describe the foibles of the current administration so clearly.
