Dough Opens in Caldwell, West Caldwell Plans for Deer Hunt, CWC School Budget Introduced

Chef Ed Simmons realized his longtime dream of owning his own farm-to-table restaurant with the opening of Dough Artisan Pizzeria in Caldwell. Simmons' vision included keeping ingredients American, or better yet, local, whenever possible.
West Caldwell is inhabited by approximately 50 deer per square mile, according to a deer density survey conducted recently by a state biologist. Township resident Michael Rauschenberger, a sharpshooter offering to conduct a free deer hunt for the town, presented the results of the survey at Tuesday night's West Caldwell Council meeting.
Memorial Park upgrades are moving along as part of a larger plan to improve West Caldwell’s recreation facilities this spring and summer. The deadline for bids to replace fencing and dugouts and add lighting to the two ball fields at Memorial Park was Thursday.
The temporary budget approved Monday night signifies a 1.51-percent increase over last year’s budget and a 2-percent increase to the tax levy, according to Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools Superintendent James Heinegg.
The Caldwell Junior Wrestling Team placed fourth overall in the Suburban Essex Junior Wrestling League County Tournament held on Feb. 23 at West Orange High School.
