Commute Averages 28 Minutes for Caldwells' Workers

WNYC creates interactive map showing average commutes of Americans. How long does it take you to get to work?

Workers in the Caldwells spend an average of 28.1 minutes getting to their jobs, according to an interactive commuter map published on WNYC. This is slightly more than the national average of 25.4 minutes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

If you travel more than 90 minutes or 50-plus miles to work, you are considered a "mega commuter" by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Garden State's proximity and accessibility to New York City has contributed to it getting the distinction of having the second-highest percentage of mega commuters, or 14.8 percent.

New Jersey trails only New York in mega commuters, which has 16.2 percent, and is well above the national average of 8.1. percent.
