Community Center Reopens, Choir Performs Cabaret, BOE Meets and More in the Week Ahead

A look at the week ahead and what stories Patch plans to cover.

 

Here are some of the stories we're working on and what's happening this week in the Caldwells. See you around!

—The Caldwell Community Center reopens Monday after being closed for two weeks for major renovations. Most of the work is complete, with the exception of shower facilities for men/boys. The pool is refilled, the fitness center is open and they gym floor is "sparkling" according to a notice sent out to members. Stop by for information on free trial membership and to register for fall programs.

—The Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m.

—The Caldwell Council will convene on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; The West Caldwell Council will also meet on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Friends of West Essex (FOWE), a local non-profit, social membership organization for mothers, is holding its annual Membership in the Park event on Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Grover Cleveland Park in Caldwell.

—The community is invited to a free celebration of the 100th anniversary of the West Caldwell Fire Department on Saturday, from 3 to 9 p.m.

—On Sunday, Sept. 23, two churches will have musical events. The First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell's Westminster Choir will perform Walking in Space (a cabaret); Notre Dame in North Caldwell will host an Irish Variety Show.
