Cielo Restaurant and Bar Chef/Owner Anthony Pucciarello will give a cooking demonstration at the Caldwell Farmers’ Market on Friday, July 27.
The demonstration and sampling will take place at 2 p.m., with Pucciarello arriving early to select fresh ingredients from the market.
Watch the Caldwell resident create two dishes, a cold salad and a vegetable pasta dish. He will also discuss the farm-to-table concept and share cooking tips.
The chef regularly features farm-to-table specialties on his menu at Cielo, his new restaurant located at 168 Passaic Ave. in Fairfield. He shops at local farmers markets and uses vegetables and herbs grown in his kitchen garden, as well as fish purchased daily at Hunts Point.
Pucciarello is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He has a degree in hotel/restaurant management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
He cooked at top restaurants in Las Vegas and New York before returning to his home state of New Jersey, where he worked as Executive Chef for Papillion Restaurant in Nutley and Luce in Caldwell before opening his own restaurant, Cielo.
Here’s what else is going on at the Caldwell Farmers’ Market this week:
Live music by Mark Caccioppoli from 4 to 6 p.m. A favorite at the Caldwell Street Fair, Tierneys, Mo’Fiddles, The Fine Grind and other local venues, Mark’s renditions of rock and blues favorites are sure to have you singing along.
Be sure to stop by this week’s special guest vendor, Hog Wild BBQ, for a glass of iced hibiscus, sweet or un-sweet tea. They’ll be offering pulled pork and chicken, racks of ribs, brisket, corn bread, baked goods, and a selection of their delicious specialty sauces.
The Caldwell Farmers’ Market is run by Project Main Street every Friday, from noon to 6 p.m., in the Smull Avenue municipal parking lot, behind Caldwell Cinema.
