Lexus Left 'Warming Up' Stolen From West Caldwell Driveway
Police warn residents about leaving cars running and unoccupied.
A Lexus left warming up on a West Caldwell driveway was reported stolen Tuesday morning, police officials said.
A resident of Sunnie Terrace told police he went outside at about 6:50 a.m. and started his car to let it warm up. When he returned five minutes later, he said, the car was gone.
The car was a 2010 four-door Black Lexus with New Jersey license plates.
In a release Tuesday morning police said, "Residents are reminded not to leave cars running and unoccupied as well as to contact the police department if they observe anything out of the ordinary in their neighborhoods, including people on foot that are acting in an unusual manner."
The car theft is under investigation by West Caldwell Officer Brett Keepers.
There have been a number of car thefts involving cars left warming up in the Caldwells this winter.
