Caldwell-West Caldwell Changes School Calendar
Board of Education approves revising calendar to build in additional snow days.
The 2012-2013 Caldwell-West Caldwell school calendar has been revised to allow for additional snow days.
The district's Board of Education approved this week opening for a half-day on Jan. 21 and a full day on Feb. 19.
According to the district's website, if no snow/emergency days are used by Friday, April 19, then Friday, May 24, will be a school holiday for all students and district employees. That would make for a four-day Memorial Weekend.
Monday, Jan. 21 was previously a scheduled vacation day for observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tuesday, Feb. 19, the day after President's Day, was formerly part of a four-day weekend winter break.
The changes were implemented after Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29 left district schools without power. Schools were closed for a total six days.
