Caldwell Street Fair: What You Need to Know

The most popular event in the Caldwells attracts tens of thousands.

The first Sunday in October always means one thing in the Caldwells—it’s time for the Rotary/Kiwanis Caldwell Street Fair.

The 21st annual Caldwell Street Fair will bring more than 200 vendors and an estimated 30,000 area residents to downtown Caldwell on Sunday, Oct. 7. Fair hours are noon to 5 p.m.

Caldwell merchants, crafters and other vendors will sell their merchandise along Bloomfield Avenue, from Roseland to Central avenues. There will be rides and plenty of activities for children. Plus, local restaurants will serve their specialties and there will be the ever-popular beer truck behind The Cloverleaf Tavern at the intersection of Hanford Place.

Proceeds from beer sales, as well as a 50/50 raffle, will be used to sustain the many charitable efforts of the Rotary Club of the Caldwells and the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex.

The 2012 Rotary/Kiwanis Caldwell Street Fair has many sponsors. The Calandra Family is the 2012 Diamond Sponsor; The Cloverleaf Tavern, Caldwell College and ShopRite of West Caldwell are platinum sponsors. Gold sponsors include Caldwell Toyota, Paul Miller Honda and K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons. And Silver sponsors are Coldwell Banker, Dial Pest Control, Kearny Federal, Lakeland Bank and PNC Bank.

Looks like this will be the first really rainy street fair we've had.

Shame it could be the first one cancelled. I wish they had the rain date for the following week. Why NOT?

There can't be a rain date for the street fair because the vendors commit to be at things like this months, in some cases a year, in advance. They're already committed to another event the following weekend. And the weekend after that. And so on. Rain dates just aren't possible for things like this.

You make a good point. The Caldwell Street Fair website is clear that there's no rain date. But I've been told it's never been canceled in 20 years—let's hope for 21!
