The death of a 69-year-old man whose body was discovered outside his home in Caldwell Monday is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The man was found dead outside his house on Crane Street, a road that runs behind St. Aloysius Church on the northern end of town.
Caldwell Police Chief James Bongiorno said borough police responded to the house at about 2:40 p.m. After a preliminary investigation, the county prosecutor's office was called to the scene, Bongiorno said.
The cause of death will be determined by the county medical examiner, according to Katherine Carter, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office.
