Caldwell Gets a Little Sweeter Starting Today

Mother-daughter owned and operated bakery, Edlyn Sweets, opens doors on Smull Avenue.

Edlyn Sweets opens in Caldwell Tuesday with the promise of baked goods that are "homemade and heavenly."

Owner Pam Zablow and her daughter, Manager Laura Halen, both of Verona, threw a friends and family party last Thursday to celebrate the professional bakers big step from home-based business to retail venture.

Guests were treated to trays and trays of baked goods, including crumb cake and banana bread, key lime pie, peanut kiss cookies, brownies and more.

Two of Edlyn Sweets' signature items are Jersey Trash, a salty and sweet crunchy snack available in small and large bags, and lollipops, bite-sized cakes dipped in chocolate, which they hope will make a popular party favor.

The bake shop is located in the retail space on 5 Smull Avenue formerly occupied by Smith & Company. The revamped shop is painted in bright colors with whimsical touches that include playful light fixtures, funky hot pink stools and giant circles that can't help but make you think of cookies, cupcakes and cakepops.

Stop in starting Tuesday to check out the sweet offerings. For more information, visit www.edlynsweets.com.

Hey NA, you should probably try the place before you pass judgement, maybe they will have a great deal of customer support and be a great success. I don't know about you, but I welcome some sort of change from Calandra's over-rated and tired baked goods.

LOVE this place! What a find. Everything I've tried has been amazing, including the ice cream. I'm a baker so I love the little "extra" touches! My favorite thing is to pick up a box or two of the mini-cupcakes on my way to a party or friend's house. They have been a big hit!!!
