Chefs, Restaurants and Other Businesses on the Move
It may not be spring, but a new crop of eateries and shops are sprouting up in the Caldwells.
The Sky is the Limit
Executive chef of Luce Restaurant in Caldwell, Anthony Pucciarello, is branching out on his own this fall. Pucciarello, and his wife, Barbara, of Caldwell, will be opening a new eatery at the former Crave Restaurant and Lounge location at 168 Passaic Ave., in Fairfield.
The new restaurant, Cielo, which means sky in Italian, will be a family friendly place with an active bar, outdoor seating, and for an extra-special experience, a chef's table in the kitchen.
“We are hoping to have a chef’s table that will be behind glass and a brick oven pizza bar,” he said.
Fans of Pucciarello's eclectic Italian cooking, which has been featured on The Cooking Channel, have just one question, when? “We are hoping to be open by the end of October, if renovations stay on schedule," he said.
A, B, AB or O?
The eat-for-your-blood-type restaurant Organic 4 Life has moved from West Caldwell up the street to 401 Bloomfield Ave., in Caldwell, filling the spot vacated by a dollar store. The new location, although a bit smaller, may be the perfect fit for this restaurant, which follows the philosophy that eating a diet customized to your blood type promotes weight loss and overall health. Customized meal programs are avaiable.
A couple of doors down from the restaurant at 405 1/2 Bloomfield Ave., Body Sculptors, a personal training center owned by Darin Michael, a personal trainer and the creator of Organic 4 Life, has also relocated from West Caldwell.
A Brazilian Art
With LeeZar Sporting Goods and Apparel now occupying the spot next to Genc’s Pizza, the old retail space at 373 Bloomfield Ave., seemed like the perfect fit for the Guerrero Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Martial Arts Academy. Formerly located in Verona, the owner and Shihan Johnny Guerrero is already holding classes in his new location.
“I was looking for a new spot to grow the academy,” said Guerrero. “We offer Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, karate, and Zumba and yoga classes. We are looking forward to being in Caldwell.”
For information on the academy, visit the website or stop in. The academy has day and evening hours.
Organic 4 Life's old spot won’t remain empty for long, as residents welcome a toy store back to the Caldwells. Learning Express, currently located in Verona and Montclair, should open in its new West Caldwell location in time for holiday shopping.
Just a Little Off the Top
Also for the kids, a new hair salon is coming to town. Located at the previous location of Diana’s Cuts for Kids, which closed its doors this summer, the new kids-only hair salon should open soon at 392A Bloomfield Ave.
Psst: Here's a hair-styling tip, Luba, a former stylist at the salon, is still cutting children's hair at Hair Stop Salon, 899 Bloomfield Ave., in West Caldwell.
